Description
Kylea Taylor, LMFT, describes the key elements and structure of an InnerEthics® Peer Consultation Group and shares effective and practical Ethical Awareness Tools that facilitate compassionate self-inquiry and relational reflection. Her latest book is a ground-breaking successor to The Ethics of Caring, recipient of a Silver Medal Nautilus Book Award. Professionals working with clients in profound states of consciousness can rely on this book to help them avoid ethical missteps, increase client benefits, and find personal and professional support.
Peer Consultation Groups distills Kylea’s experience facilitating and supervising thousands of extra-ordinary state of consciousness sessions and decades of teaching in-depth courses within many breathwork, spiritual emergency, and psychedelic practitioner training programs. She has taught in large and small university classes with credentialed health professionals and therapists, as well as in programs where students studied with indigenous teachers. Compelling positive feedback from Kylea’s students prompted her to make the InnerEthics® model more widely available.
Highlights
The unique structure of an InnerEthics® PCG (Peer Consultation Group) assists therapists and practitioners to compassionately help one another meet the challenges and vulnerabilities that arise when working with clients in multi-dimensional states of consciousness, including psychedelic-assisted therapy, breathwork, hypnosis, profound grief, and trauma recovery.
InnerEthics® Ethical Awareness Tools provide clear and effective methods to identify motivations, beliefs, and biases. They help to recognize and address ethically precarious situations and identify conflicts of interest between professionals and their clients.
An InnerEthics® PCG’s compassionate support is specifically helpful to therapists and practitioners working with clients in states that amplify relational issues, such as transference, countertransference, conflicts of interest, and power dynamics. This book serves as a guide for maintaining ethical awareness by utilizing self-supervision, formal supervision, or peer consultation groups.

Taylor reminds us that ethical practice is not a set of guidelines, it is a structure of support for practitioners to work within the values that undergird their ethics. Peer Consultation Groups & Ethical Awareness Tools for Psychedelic Practitioners counsels us in the belief that ethics is relational and must be tended to in relationship. This offering is a practical and necessary one for this time, as the psychedelic training industry grows rapidly, often leaving ethics as an afterthought. ~ Florie St. Aime, author of Anti-Oppressive Psychotherapeutic Practice: Finding Liberation Through Unlearning
