Shipping Policy within USA

Our shipping cost calculations within the USA are now computed in several ways in order to give you the best possible pricing. One method is based on the number of items in the cart, with a set rate for the first item, and a small charge for each additional item. A second method uses the weight of the package and the shipping destination. And, for large orders, we now have a flat rate option so that you never pay more than $15, no matter how large the order. New as of August 2025, we now offer free shipping on retail orders over $75 when shipped within the US. Retail orders are orders for products at our regular retail price; unfortunately we are not able to provide free shipping on discounted orders. You should see the various options available at checkout, so be sure to select the least expensive method which appears. The cost of shipping has become expensive, and the price we charge is nearly always less than our actual shipping cost. Most of our shipping is via USPS Priority Mail, First Class Mail, or Media Mail, but we may also use Fedex Ground or USPS ground for some larger packages. If your shipping address for UPS/Fedex is different from your postal address, please provide both addresses in the shipping address section of the order.

For small orders which we can ship from home, we will generally ship on the business day following the receipt of an order. We receive quite a few notes of appreciation for how quickly packages arrive (Thank you!), however we are very small and sometimes 2 or 3 days will go by when we cannot ship, due to illness or the like, so please allow plenty of time for your order to arrive. As mentioned above, large orders are shipping from the warehouse twice per week, so be sure to allow plenty of time for these. If you have particular needs, please email info@hanfordmead.com and we will try to accommodate your situation.

International shipments are shipped via USPS International First Class (airmail) or Priority Mail International. There have been instances of delays in the arrival of packages, presumably due to customs delay in the destination country, and of damage to shipments due to rough handling. Hanford Mead will pack carefully (but not double box) and ship promptly, but cannot guarantee delivery of packages to international destinations. Customers are responsible for any customs or import duties which may be assessed.
