Exploring Holotropic Breathwork®

Description

Exploring Holotropic Breathwork®, edited by Kylea Taylor, collects 144 field reports from a widespread practice of contemporary, non-drug, altered-state work. Virtually all this information is applicable now to psychedelic-assisted therapy. Holotropic Breathwork® was developed by Dr. Stanislav and Christina Grof. Stan Grof trained Holotropic Breathwork® Facilitators in a time when psychedelics were illegal and because any experience available in psychedelic states was possible also using the Holotropic Breathwork® method. These articles by 85 authors, who were trained in Holotropic Breathwork® by Stanislav Grof, M.D., were first published in the Holotropic Breathwork® newsletter, edited for Holotropic Breathwork® Facilitators  by Kylea Taylor between 1991-2002.  Originally written to share their professional experiences and emerging theories with their peers, this collection of articles is a rich source of information, not only giving information about the practice of Holotropic Breathwork® and anecdotes describing psychological and physical healing in deep states of consciousness, but also discussing traditional therapy, kundalini, spiritual emergency, multiplicity, ethics, shamanism, addiction and trauma recovery, astrology, and the integration of application of extra-ordinary state of consciousness experiences with many other theoretical and practical systems and with ordinary life in general.

This beautifully bound book includes a previously unpublished, 21-page article by psychiatrist Stanislav Grof, “Physical Manifestations of Emotional Disorders” in which he concludes that faster breathing creates a biochemical situation in the body that facilitates emergence and resolution of old emotional and physical tensions associated with unresolved psychological and physical traumas.
